Overseas Students Complete Landmark College Programme

The Concluding Ceremony for the 25th educational programme for overseas female students was held at Dundee’s Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education (February 23).
A total of 53, third and fourth-year students from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Malaysia successfully completed the 2018 Academic Training Programme (ATP).
The first educational programme of this kind took place with a Summer School in 2003 and since then more than 1,100 students have made the trip to Dundee.
The ATP is geared towards advancing the students’ overall learning and understanding of Scotland, its history, culture and traditions while study and debate on the challenges of global dialogue and exchange in the contemporary world also formed a major part of the programme.
Three separate groups of students delivered interesting and informative presentations on their experiences of the ATP with specific focus on the topics of Globalisation, Multiculturalism and Muslims; Leadership and Management and Civilisational Dialogue.
HE Mr Mirza Al-Sayegh, Chairman of the Al-Maktoum College Board; College Chancellor, Lord Murray Elder; College Director of Operations, Dr Abi Abubaker and Dundee Lord Provost, Iain Borthwick were present to award the ATP students their certificates and commemorative gifts.
The 2018 ATP students came from Abu Dhabi University; Abu Dhabi Police College; American University of Sharjah; British University in Dubai; Cairo University; College of Islamic and Arabic Studies; Higher Colleges of Technology; University of Malaya; University of Sharjah; UAE University and Zayed University.
